Bauble is a bear who was made as the result of a challenge. He has flown to the USA to be loved by Jodi M, who generously contributed to our charity event.
I set the Bear Makers of Wales a challenge in June 2005 to create a pink bear by October 2005, as this had been named as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the UK. The £175 proceeds from these special bears has been sent to Cancer Research UK. Bauble was auctioned with the other bears on eBay in the first week of November 2005. As all of the members of the club have lost someone to cancer, we felt that this would be an appropriate way for us to contribute to the national fundraising campaign for the charity.
Bauble is fashioned from a variety of mini bear fabrics in a 'patchwork' theme, with hand beaded and embroidered features. As you may have noticed, he has a very big and BEAUTIFUL nose and some very pretty antiqued buttons down his big squishy belly (filled with polyfil and steel shot to give him a little weight) . The fabrics that I have used are very soft and he is lovely to handle.
I also have to admit that he is my favourite bear, ever !!
